Originally released in 2007, Inventions for the New Season was Maserati's third album - and their first with new drummer, Jerry Fuchs (!!!, Turing Machine, LCD Soundsystem, The Juan Maclean). Fuchs' influence was immediately felt, pushing the tempos and helping the band shed much of its former self - saving only their trademark reverb and delay-drenched guitars. The result was a sweaty, delirious mix of late-70s Pink Floyd, German psych-rock, and mid-80s action film scores that instantly cemented Maserati's reputation as a white-knuckled instrumental force. To celebrate Maserati's 20th anniversary, Inventions for the New Season was remastered from the original master tapes, and the sprawling double-album repackaged in an updated design. This is truly the best this album has ever looked and sounded.
