Bereits 2. Full Length LP nach der ersten EP, jetzt als Repress auf transparent rotem Vinyl, ich kann mich nur wiederholen:
Absoluter Tipp in Sachen Düster-Noise-Rock: für Freunde von Killing Joke, Jesus Lizard, Voivod oder Beastmilk absolut unverzichtbar, es handelt sich hier nämlich um das Projekt von Linnéa Olsson (Gitarre + Gesang), und die war vorher bei...na? Richtig!
Beastmilk. Und Grave Pleasures. Und The Oath (!), zusammen mit Johanna Sadonis, die jetzt bei Lucifer singt. Diese neue Platte hier ist abermals so eigen und so herausragend in dem Genre, dass man sie gehört haben muss, um es zu glauben, ich verspreche nicht zu viel. Knaller. Zu dem hypnotischen und düsteren Tribal Noise Rock gesellen sich nun noch deutlichere Voivod Referenzen, dissonante Akkorde, die zwar schon vorher Verwendung fanden, aber mit z.B. dem Titelsong wird hier der Vogel abgeschossen. Hört rein! Ich hab's Euch gesagt!
"The city as a throbbing organism is one of the fundamental themes of Maggot Heart, explored in several songs on City Girls (2017) and Dusk to Dusk (2018). On Mercy Machine (2020), the machinery of night runs on the steam of many bodies. Locked inside a prison of flesh the spirit will not soar, only in unity with the body can divine alchemy be achieved. Mercy Machine is a rock album about sex, death and the pursuit of freedom.
This album was written and arranged by Linnéa Olsson and her band Uno Bruniusson (drums) and Olivia Airey (bass), as well as on-and-off collaborator Gottfrid Åhman, at the end of 2019. It was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden with award-winning producer Martin "Konie" Ehrencrona in February 2020. It highlights Olsson's catchy, but strangely jarring songwriting in ten cutting tracks, swerving back and forth on the rock genre-spectrum. May or may not appeal to fans of Voivod, The Stooges and The Jesus Lizard."
