Swedish melodic death metal supergroup the Halo Effect includes some of the most storied and esteemed players of Gothenberg's metal scene, with members of long-running bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Passenger, and more all contributing to their atmospheric and technically exacting sound. The group came together during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic and sought to bring back the classic death metal sound of Gothenberg's early-'90s bands with their 2022 debut album, Days of the Lost.

The Halo Effect was formed in 2021 by vocalist Mikael Stanne (who at the time was also lead vocalist and sole remaining original member of Dark Tranquility) along with guitarists Niclas Engelin and Jesper Strömblad, bassist Peter Iwers, and drummer Daniel Svensson, all of whom were once or current members of In Flames. With decades of collective experience under their belts, the Halo Effect were quick to produce their first set of songs, and their first album, Days of the Lost, was released on the Nuclear Blast label in August 2022. ~ Fred Thomas
